Most of the larger hotels put on some form of
entertainment for their guests in the evenings during the peak season months
of November to April. This could take the form of Fire Eaters or large African
Dance Troups. This may be reduced to just a single Kora player, whilst you
eat or relax in the bar during the off-peak months of May to October. Nevertheless, if you get the chance to see bicycle man, he's a must. Not only is he legendary in The Gambia, but you will be absolutely amazed at what he can do on a bike! Out and about, there is an expanding number of bars and nightclubs most
of which play live music throughout the week. Bakau has live entertainment
nightly from 10pm onwards. Live acts include Sampu Susu (traditional Mandinka
music), The Holly Family (reggae), Five Star Band (reggae) and Fula Acrobats
(dance troupe). Our favourite band, by far, is the Batin International
Band, who play popular West African music. |
