Born from a mutual love of catching BIG fish and The Gambia, Hooked On Gambia was established by Bob Broxton, together with his wife Fi in 2003.

Bob Broxton, the former charismatic figurhead of Hooked On Gambia with a love of angling ,cut his first teeth fishing fresh water rivers and lakes in the North of England before moving to Swansea in 1977 where he dicovered the lure of sea fishing in the Bristol Channel. Bob managed to find time ( in between running his own business ) to organise his local fishing club's activities, as well as running a private fishing boat out of Mumbles, and leading fishing trips for young offenders on local charter boats. Deciding to take earley retirement, and fed up with the British weather and declining fish stocks around the British coastline, Bob set his sights on The Gambia where the fish are much bigger and better looking.

Fi Broxton's love of fishing ( and her husband ) started when Bob announced that he would be taking her beach fishing on their first date! In spite of this, they married in 1991 and Fi has followed her 'Fisherman' on various fishing holidays around the world even overcomming her sea sickness to fish on board his boat in the Bristol Channel. Fi acted Hooked On Gambia's informal secretary, webmaster, chief meeter and greeter, chaufer and sandwich maker.

That all started back in 2003, Then in March 2008 everything changed. Bob’s back pains were getting worse, even the medication was not giving him the relief he experienced earlier in the year. The pain was having an excruciating effect on Bob’s health to the extent that Bob returned to the UK in April for treatment ( possibly requiring surgery ) and a long period of convalescence.

Over the years Bob, Fi and myself ( Alan Loughlen ) become very good friends, and like Bob I was an avid Fisherman. To cut a long story short I bought the business ( Hooked on Gambia ) from Bob and Fi for two reasons:

1. To enable loyal past, and future customers to enjoy value for money fishing while in The Gambia.

2. To go fishing whenever I choose on well maintained Boats

Yes it's Dembo, still here waiting to take you fishing and fulfil your every need.

Last but not least is Kaddijatou, she likes to be called Jatou, as a lot of customers cant't pronounce her full name.

Hooked on Gambia may of lost Fi but they have gained Jatou as being chaufer, secratery, greeter and sandwich maker. So if you have any complaints about the sandwich's, see Jatou. She is also very competent at fishing.
